Recommend accounting software setup and workflows for a startup

We are a startup company that would like to set up an accounting and bookkeeping system that fits our needs. We will most likely center our accounting activities around Quickbooks, but we would like to use other apps and software to facilitate our specific accounting workflows. We would like to get advice from someone familiar with the various accounting / bookkeeping options out there on how to set ourselves up, and have that person set up our accounting and then gradually transition us onto it.
