NOVA Chemicals Corporation Operations
Research Process Engineer
08/2018 - Present
I am involved in a range of engineering design, feasibility studies and development projects relating to clean energy technologies in the petrochemicals and natural gas sector. Activities include analyses and experimental studies assessing the feasibility of different chemical processes and components to support scale-up to larger demonstrations and eventual commercialization.

DIFREX LLC Operations
Research and Product Development Engineer
01/2017 - 07/2018
Consulting on existing/upcoming reactor systems, certification/quick check of third party design, debottlenecking/retrofit/revamp and emergency response. Helped develop reactor modules for reactor and reaction modelling for a wide range of reactors. Also involved in R&D in process simulation, optimization, and techno-economic evaluation. Themes include valorization of natural gas (methane) - steam reforming, ethylene and aromatics, gasoline and alcohols.

Fuels Improvers Inc. Start-Up
Research and Development Lead
02/2017 - 07/2018
Research lead for chemical process and product development for diesel and gasoline fuel additives. asset optimization and growth and compliance to ASTM fuel and safety standards. Also responsible for amalgamation of analytics, market research and technology to devise innovative sales and marketing strategies for products in Canada, United States and Mexico.

CB&I Other
Process Design and Modeling Consultant
01/2016 - 07/2016
➢ Designed a green, hybrid process configuration for hydrogenating benzene for precursor use in manufacturing nylon by carrying out process model simulations in gPROMS that was validated against pilot plant data.
➢ Proposed process was significantly cost effective (60% lower capital cost), energy efficient (200% lower cooling cost), more productive (30% better hydrogen uptake) and safer (operated at 3-4 times lesser pressure).

Rothsay Biodiesel Other
Cost Engineering and Modeling Consultant
01/2015 - 12/2015
➢ A new hybrid green reactor technique was developed for producing high purity biodiesel from waste cooking oil. Process designs and cost engineered models were developed for a 10 million annual capacity biodiesel refinery in Aspen Plus and Aspen HYSYS.
➢ Proposed new green process was significantly cost effective (25% lower capital cost), energy efficient (50% lower energy requirement), more productive (50% less purge) and had higher catalyst life and by-product output.

British Petroleum Operations
Process Design Consultant
05/2013 - 12/2014
➢ A single-stage emulsion upgrading process for oil sands bitumen was developed, where the emulsified water was directly activated using the water gas shift reaction to provide in situ hydrogen.
➢ Process achieved significant reduction of the water separation footprint (20%), produced pipeline transportable oil without diluent and purified the emulsified water without massive water treatment.
