Allied is a Tokyo based boutique M&A and financial advisory firm established by former Chase Manhattan Bank (Tokyo) executives in 2004. Allied advises its Japanese corporate clients on both Japan based transactions and on certain cross-border engagements. Corporate Strategy & Advisory: Provide strategic advisory and deal support for the firm’s U.S. cross-border M&A engagements. Identify M&A targets/potential buyers, perform financial analysis, manage due-diligence, and support deal negotiations.

Performed Corporate Development and Marketing Roles

* Identified and acquired a portfolio of mortgage reinsurance company assets. Restructured the reinsurance terms to release trapped capital which resulted in an accelerated investment payoff.
* Acted as an incubator for a start-up firm that provided non-dilutive financing to independent mortgage banks.

I performed Corporate Development, Operations, and Marketing functions in additon to international expansion (Opened a representative office in Tokyo for the company in 2007). Worked closely with the firm's CFO and senior leadership during the sub-prime financial crisis to raise and preserve capital for claims paying purposes. Structured the firm for sale to Arch Capital Group, Ltd. after which I accepted a severance package in the resulting downsizing.

Alliant was a start-up strategy consulting firm founded with former Tokyo based Accenture colleagues. The firm provided Japan market entry planning and strategy consulting services for small U.S. based technology firms interested in expanding into the Japan market.

Led geographically dispersed consulting team in Hong Kong, Singapore, and in London for a UK based multinational bank. The project focused on developing a financial impact model to analyze the overall spend associated with migrating various legacy banking systems to a new core platform. Served as team lead for a peer benchmarking study commissioned by a large Australian bank.

Performed both Trading and Marketing functions (presented the firm's investment strategy to pensions and foundations to increase AUM).

Investment team member and trader for the firm’s portfolio comprised of foundations, endowments, and mutual fund clients. During this time, the firm managed nearly two-thirds of the assets of the Vanguard Equity Income Fund.
